Canada will allow only fully vaccinated U.S. citizens to enter starting Aug. 9, after all U.S. Citizens being locked out of the country for nearly 17 months. Fully vaccinated travelers who meet the requirements will be exempt from the 14-day quarantine.
But don’t just go driving up to the border on that day and expect to get in. The Public Health Agency of Canada has a long list of requirements to get in:
- fully vaccinated
- paper or digital copy of their vaccination documentation
- ArriveCAN app or submit information online on the ArriveCAN web portal.
- COVID-19 negative test obtained within 72 hours of crossing the border. It must be a molecular or PCR test, NOT an antigen test.
- There is no longer mandatory testing once in Canada, but some travelers may be randomly tested upon entry
Harsh penalties for faking vaccination status
According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, a person who submits false information could be liable for fines, imprisonment, or prosecution.
